Surf, Eat, Repeat: Your Guide to Outsite San Diego

Cruise into downtown Encinitas for some tasty fish tacos and hip shops or take a 2 minute stroll to the beach and play in the pristine Pacific. If you’re visiting Outsite San Diego, there are lots of great restaurants, activities, and businesses to enjoy in between working in the office.

Breakfast

Hungry before your early morning call? Try these spots.

Lofty Coffee Company – A popular coffee roastery that offers breakfast and lunch options. Great for a change of scenery, with plenty of outdoor seating.

Coffee Coffee Laid-back coffee shop with a surfing vibe. They offer an all-day coffee menu as well as breakfast and lunch options, and a courtyard with outdoor seating.

Lunch

Grab a bite between your morning meeting and your afternoon work session with these delicious options.

Fish 101 – A hip restaurant run by a husband/wife duo that prepare sustainably caught local fish into a variety of dishes. Highlights include tacos and bowls. They’re open for lunch, happy hour and dinner.

Lotus Cafe – A popular lunch and dinner spot (they also offer breakfast) with a huge menu and plenty of seating. The menu focuses on vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options, but they have something for everyone.

Fuel up from a long day of work and play at these local restaurants with plenty of nightlife.

Sake House – A family-run Japanese restaurant that serves hot and cold tapas-style portions. Open for dinner only, they also require reservations on Tuesday through Thursday nights.

Solterra Winery – Don’t come to California without enjoying the wine: Solterra Winery & Kitchen has plenty of wine choices on their list, plus lunch, happy hour, and dinner menus with a European twist.

If you’re taking a longer break or looking to stay fit, here are some great options to spend your time.

Yoga Bergamot – Community yoga studio and spa that offers daily classes at a variety of levels and intensities. Their fees are donation based, making them highly affordable.

Indigo Dragon Center – Local alternative medicine center and spa that offers massage, acupuncture, herbal treatments, and a giftshop.

Surfing

With an average year-round temperature of 70 degrees and more beaches than you can count, San Diego is the quintessential fun in the sun escape. This beautiful beachside house is located in Encinitas, voted Best surf town in the US by Surfer magazine. Outsite San Diego has excellent access to Grand View Beach (~5 minute walk).  Here are two surfing businesses nearby.

Sweet Melissa Surf – Instructor Melissa comes highly recommended: she’s so good she taught Outsite’s resident Bostonian, Ashok, how to surf in less than one month!

Encinitas Surfboards – Surf shop that also provides rentals and lessons. The also have apparel and surf supplies available for purchase.
